expand Beyonce and Jay Z Lose Bidding War for Pricey Beverly Hills Mansion

Cliff Lipson/CBSEarlier this month, Jay Z and Beyonce were in a bidding war with three other buyers for an $85 million home in California. However, it looks like the power couple lost out on the mansion, according to Billboard.

Despite the Carters visiting the home six times, Swedish video game developer Markus Persson, who recently earned $2.5 billion from selling his company Mojang to Microsoft, purchased the home for $70 million. Realtors reveal it is the most expensive house to ever be sold in Beverly Hills.

The 23,000-square foot home features panoramic views, eight bedrooms, 15 bathrooms, an infinity pool, wine cellar, 16-car garage and a 24-seat movie theater.

“Marcus fell in love with the house, its sleek contemporary design and its spectacular panoramic views that sweep from downtown L.A. to the Pacific Ocean. The fact that the house also was completely furnished in such great style was another major selling point for him,” wrote realtor Katia De Los Reyes on the blog of the realty company that sold the house.
