A Tribe Called Quest Honored at the 2016 ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Awards

Lester Cohen/Getty Images for ASCLegendary hip-hop trio A Tribe Called Quest were presented with a Golden Note Award at the 29th annual ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Music Awards this Thursday.

Held at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Los Angeles, California, the invitation-only event feted songwriters and publishers with the most performed ASCAP songs on the 2015 R&B, rap, gospel and hip-hop charts that year. 

According to a press release, Outkast’s Andre 3000 and ASCAP President Paul Williams presented the award to A Tribe Called Quest. The group were also surprised with a special performance byBusta Rhymes, which paid tribute to the group’s incredible contributions within the music industry.
