James Dimmock/E! EntertainmentMariah Carey‘s eight-part docu-series, Mariah’s World, premiered Sundy night on E!, delivering what the pop diva promised would be a side of her fame that not many people get to see.
The fast-paced hour showcased Mariah as she tackled the overwhelming demands of her time leading up to the launch of her Sweet Fantasy World Tour — during which she was also planning a wedding with her now ex-fiancé, Australian billionaire James Packer, and also being a mommy to her five-year-old twins with ex-husband Nick Cannon, Monroe and Moroccan.
Packer, with whom Carey broke up while recording Mariah’s World, was mentioned frequently during the show, but never appeared on camera.
The debut episode also introduced us to Mariah’s Sweet Emotion entourage, including her snippy tour manager, Stella Bulochnikov; Stella’s apparently unqualified personal assistant. Molly; musical director Big Jim Wright; choreographer Anthony; and backup dancer and rumored boyfriend Bryan Tanaka.
Along the way, Mariah, dressed provocatively and draped across a couch, speaks directly to the camera with funny and often self-deprecating commentary.
Mariah’s World airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on E!
