The Weeknd's “Starboy” Charts at Number One on “Billboard” 200, Scores Third Largest First-Week Sales of 2016

Nabil ElderkinThe Weeknd has earned it — the third-largest first-week sales of the year, that is — with his latest album, Starboy.

Billboard reports that the album, which racked up 348,000 sales units its first week in stores, follows Drake‘s Views and Beyoncé‘s Lemonade, which scored the #1 and #2 biggest debuts of 2016, respectively.

Since its November 25 release, Starboy, the follow up to his breakthrough album Beauty Behind the Madness, has become The Weeknd’s second number one Billboard 200 and is the only second album to exceed over 100,000 streaming equivalent album units one week.
