ABC/Lou RoccoStevie Wonder has many children — eight kids with five different women, at last count — and his current girlfriend is pregnant. However, he’s not about to bump his total to 11, despite rumors.
Stevie appeared on ABC’s The View on Wednesday and addressed a report that his girlfriend Tomeeka Robyn Bracy is expecting triplets. He told Whoopi Goldberg and the other co-hosts that the story wasn’t true, but of course, he joked around first. “Whoopi, it’s so hard for me these days,” he mock-cried. “That’s why I’m going on the road, I’ve got, how many? 22 kids?”
“No, actually, it’s not true,” he continued. “The truth is, we’re going to have a wonderful daughter in December. Her name is gonna be Nia, which is ‘purpose,’ and, y’know, rumors spread…like I said before in the song ‘Superstition,’ ‘When you believe in things that you don’t understand, then you suffer!’ So that was a bunch of bull!”
According to E!, Wonder has one child already with Bracy. Prior to that relationship, he was married to fashion designer Kai Millard Morris for 11 years; they had two kids. He also has children with his exes Yolanda Simmons and Melody McCulley, but none with his previous wife, the late Motown singer and songwriter Syreeta Wright.
Wonder’s tour, during which he’ll perform his classic album Songs in the Key of Life in its entirety, kicks off Friday in New York City.
