Omarion Says Sex Playlist Will “Evoke Emotion”

The singer tells ABC News Radio what he was aiming to give fans on the project, which he says was designed specifically for the grown-ups.

“What I would consider my album is the theme music to the ultimate connection,” he says. “I feel like nowadays, the music doesn’t teach you to connect, kind of like the old times when you hear music and it makes you feel in love.  Like R&B, rhythm and blues is supposed to evoke emotion and that’s exactly what this album is. It’s the ultimate connection, you know, you put this music on, you’re going to connect.”

The crooner also reveals how his new single, “Pose to Be” with Chris Brown, came together.

“That’s like a dream song, because it has a really catchy and hip-hop, club vibe but its all R&B singers on it,” Omarion recalls. “Basically I had a conversation with DJ Mustard who produced it, and I was thinking to myself, ‘Man I want to do something different.’ So [then] I had a conversation with Chris and I just expressed to him the importance of us aligning and doing a record together because I’ve been knowing him for so long but we never professionally like worked on a track that came out as a single, you know.  So, he was with it, he was like, ‘Yo, I vibe this.'”

Omarion adds that getting Jhene Aiko on the track has inspired hope that the song will win some awards. “After that Jhene hopped on it and I was like, ‘Wow, this is just a great collaborative effort.’ You know, and also I hope that next year when all the award shows come around that your boy gets that Best Collaboration, okay!”

The 12-song album also includes contributions from Jeremih on “Show Me,” and the DeBarge-sampling “You Like It.”
