ABC/Randy Holmes2014 was a busy year for musicians on the personal front. There were, sadly, a lot of splits, but also some notable marriages and several adorable babies. Here’s a roundup:
Marriages, Engagements & Hookups
Kelly Rowland and Tim Witherspoon exchanged vows in a private ceremony in May in Costa Rica.
Solange tied the knot with video director Alan Ferguson in New Orleans before approximately 200 friends and family members on November 16. The wedding attendees included Beyoncé, her husband Jay Z and their daughter, Blue Ivy.
Kanye West and Kim Kardashian tied the knot May 24 in Florence, Italy. This is West’s first marriage and Kardashian’s third.
In November, Fantasia Barrino announced that she accepted a marriage proposal from her now-fiance, Kendall Taylor.
In September, Bow Wow announced that he gotten engaged to reality star Erica Mena. The pair are set to get married in April of 2015.
A rep for Whitney Houston’s family confirmed January 10 that Whitney’s daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown, had tied the knot with her friend Nick Gordon.
Following her divorce from Lamar Odom, Khloe Kardashian entered into a relationship with rapper French Montana. They reportedly split for a second time recently. Prior to dating Khloe, French was romantically linked to Trina.
Divorces & Breakups
Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon, married since 2008, separated, but continue to co-parent their twins, Morocco and Monroe.
Robin Thicke and Paula Patton separated on February 24 after almost nine years of marriage. Robin spent the rest of the year trying to win her back, dedicating his entire next album to him, but the album, and his efforts, flopped. Paula filed for divorce October 9.
Big Sean’s rep announced April 9 that the rapper and Glee actress Naya Rivera‘s engagement had ended. Sean is now dating Ariana Grande. Meanwhile, the Glee actress wed Ryan Dorsey in Mexico on July 19 — the same day she was supposed to marry her rapper fiance.
After getting engaged, then calling off their engagement, Game ended his relationship with Tiffney Cambridge this April after Cambridge filed for a restraining order against the former G-Unit soldier after a reported domestic violence incident.
Drake and Rihanna dated sporadically throughout the beginning part of the year, but they reportedly went their separate ways in May after numerous fights due to Drake being “too in love with her,” according to US Weekly.
In June, Christina Milian and music executive Jas Prince have split after getting engaged last May. Since then, she’s been romantically linked to Lil Wayne.
Jordin Sparks and Jason Derulo ended their three-year romance in September. Initially, there were conflicting reports as to why they split, but in December, Jordin released a diss track slamming Jason for his behavior.
After being separated for two years, Mase and Twyla Betha finalized their divorce in June, with custody of the children awarded to Twyla.
Karruche Tran held Chris Brown down through his prison bids earlier this year and tolerated his repeated dalliances with ex-girlfriend Rihanna, but Brown reportedly dumped his ride or die chick and accused her of cheating with Drake during a visit to Toronto.
In August, Tyga and Blacc Chyna called off their engagement due to infidelity allegations. The couple share a two-year-old son, King Cairo.
In August, Ciara called off her engagement with Future after 10 months of dating and just a month after the birth of their son.
In September, Wiz Khalifa and Amber Rose divorced after a year of marriage. The couple have a kid together, named Sebastian.
In November, Ginuwine confirmed that he and his wife, Sole, are “separated.” The pair have been married since 2003 and have two daughters together.
Babies & Pregnancies
Alicia Keys announced on Instagram July 31 that she’s expecting her second child with her husband, producer-rapper Swizz Beatz. Just days after Christmas, the happy couple welcomed a baby boy, Genesis Ali Dean.
In May, Future and Ciara became the new parents of a healthy baby boy named Future Zahir Wilburn.
In November, Kelly Rowland and her husband Tim Witherspoon welcomed their first child, Titan Jewell Witherspoon. Less than a month later, Rowland announced the passing of her mother, Doris Rowland Garrison.
In August, Omarion announced that he and his girlfriend, Apryl Jones, welcomed a healthy baby boy, named Megaa Omari Grandberry.
