ABC/Randy HolmesMother’s Day is a big deal, especially for first-time mothers like Kelly Rowland. Despite losing her own mother last year, the singer revealed that she’s looking forward to the holiday this year and spending quality time with her family for the occasion.
“This Mother’s Day is going to be a different one, especially because I’m a mom now,” Rowland said during Essence Live‘s Mother’s Day special, “And its going to be really chill, like I want to be amongst love and family and friends and eating and just enjoying each other’s company.”
She also reveals how her son Titan has changed her. “As soon as he cries, I have never run so fast to get to where he is, like literally sprint to make sure he’s okay,” she laughs. “I didn’t know how fast I could run.”
The singer graced the cover of Essence magazine’s April issue, which she says was a big moment for her. “I’m so proud that we’re a young black family,” she says of her family with husband Tim Witherspoon. “I was very happy to share that with my fans.”
