Back in July, WGN America revealed that John Legend and his Get Lifted production company will executive-produce its new series, Underground, with John overseeing music for the project. Now, we get to see a glimpse into the Civil War-era drama.
In the official trailer, we see a group of slaves planning a dangerous escape from a Georgia plantation while a slave owner puts out a “Wanted” list. With tensions high, they are assisted by a secret abolitionist couple running a station on the Underground Railroad.
The series stars Jurnee Smollett-Bell and Empire breakout star Jussie Smollett as well as Christopher Meloni, Reed Diamond, Aldis Hodge and Jessica De Gouw.
Billboard reports the 10-episode series will premiere on WGN America on March 9, 2016.
