Cash Money RecordsViews is getting plenty of love. The album is currently spending it’s ninth straight week atop theBillboard 200 album chart — where it debuted. It’s the longest time an album by a male artist has spent at the top of the chart since Usher‘s Confessions topped the chart for nine weeks in 2004, Billboardreports. And now a new report has crowned Views the leading album of the first half of 2016.
According to a mid-year report from BuzzAngle Music, Views is the top-selling album of the year to date, with 1.27 million units sold and is currently the most streamed album of 2016, with 1.5 billion plays.
Adele‘s 25 and Beyonce‘s Lemonade come in second and third on BuzzAngle’s list of the years most consumed albums, with the order of those two albums reverse in second and third place behind Drakes when it comes to pure sales.
And, reports BuzzAngle, the Views song “One Dance” is “the most consumed song of the year,” tracking sales and streams. The song is spending its eighth week at number one on the Billboard Hot 100, that magazine reports.
With “One Dance” and Views topping Billboard‘s singles and album charts respectively for the last seven weeks, Drake ties Michael Jackson for the longest time spent simultaneously at the top of those charts by a male artist, the magazine reports. “Billie Jean” and Thriller were each number one on the charts for seven weeks straight in 1983.
