Frank Ocean Releases Another Album, “Blonde”

Def Jam/Boys Don’t CryA day after Frank Ocean shared a 45-minute video album, Endless, early Friday, the reclusive artist released a second album, called Blonde, on Saturday.

The collection — reportedly the project Ocean began teasing as Boys Don’t Cry more than a year ago — is now available via Apple Music and iTunes, though you can sample each track on Ocean’s official website

It’s interesting to note that the title is spelled Blonde — with a final ‘e’ — in all the online promo materials, but there appear to be several album cover variants, at least one of which omits the final ‘e’ in the spelling.

As part of the release, Ocean pop-up shops opened in New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago. A magazine titled “Boys Don’t Cry” is available at the the pop-up shops in conjunction with the new album, according to Billboard. It includes a poem by Kanye West called “The McDonald’s Man.”

“McDonald’s man, McDonald’s man, the french fries had a plan. The french fries had a plan. The salad bar and the ketchup made a band, cus the french fries had a plan. The french fries had a plan,” the poem reads in part.

Other contributors listed in the credits for the magazine include Tyler, the Creator, James Blake and A$AP Rocky.

Saturday morning, Ocean released a risqué video for “Nikes,” the first of 17 songs on the the album, available on Apple Music.
