Alicia Keys Can't Wait to Share Her Musical Knowledge on New Season of “The Voice”

Trae Patton/NBCAlicia Keys is more than ready for her official Voice debut tonight with fellow new judge Miley Cyrus and veteran judges Adam Levine and Blake Shelton.

The celebrated singer-songwriter truly believes in the magic of picking team members solely based on hearing their voice, which she says is her favorite part of the show.

“You’re just listening to the sound of their voice and the way they make you feel,” Alicia says. “And that’s what music is.”

Keys also feels that her extensive musical background will provide for Voice contestants who may find themselves on Team Keys some much-needed inspiration and insight into what it takes to be a successful vocalist in today’s music business.

“I feel like I’m in such a great position to be able to give the knowledge that I have, the information that I have, the things I’ve learned, the tricks. You know, the ways to just get through, and I think they’re really gonna get it,” she says.

Of course, Alicia aims to keep things “fresh” this season on The Voice.

“Yeah, I like to call it the old versus the fresh. I like to consider myself very fresh,” says Keys.

The 11th season of The Voice begins tonight at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
