ABC/Randy HolmesFirst-time Grammy nominee Anderson .Paak tells Billboard that he celebrated the news of his two nominations with “a smoke, a toast and some sushi.”
However, Paak forgot one important thing — to actually pay for his meal.
“The first thing I did [when I heard the news was] we went to the studio, we rolled something up, we toasted something up and then we had sushi,” he says. “We told everybody in the sushi bar that we was Grammy-nominated and then we left and didn’t pay the bill.”
Maybe the bill will be forgiven if his sophomore studio album Malibu wins a Grammy for Best Urban Contemporary Album or Best New Artist at the awards ceremony next month.
The 59th Annual Grammy Awards airs February 12 on CBS.
