Charlie Wilson is blessed to be alive after life-changing battle with prostate cancer

ABC/Image Group LACharlie Wilson tells People magazine that he’s truly blessed to be alive following his prostate cancer diagnosis in 2008.

He says, “It was a reality check for me. It woke me up and made me realize how short life is and how it could be cut anytime. After hearing the news, I changed my lifestyle a lot as far as what I eat and how often I work out.”

Due to early detection and getting proper treatment, the 11-time Grammy nominee eventually went into remission and, in the spirit of his latest album, In It to Win It, was ready to get back to making music for his fans.

Charlie’s renewed joy for life can be seen in his new music video for his hit single, “I’m Blessed.”

Says the singer, “When you are as blessed as I have been, you want to share those blessings. The idea for the video was to capture one of my biggest blessings — my fans — and be able to share my music and story with them.”

The clip features cameo appearances from a number of celebrity friends such as Martin LawrenceJohnny Gill — who’s currently on tour with Charlie — plus legendary football player Jim BrownWiz Khalifa, producer Terry Lewis and T.I., who collaborated with Wilson on the song.

Tickets for the remainder of Charlie’s In It to Win It tour are on sale.
