It's not lit: “Heartbroken” Ja Rule tweets apologies after his Fyre Festival descends into chaos

Prince Williams/WireImageImagine paying thousands to fly to a private island in the Bahamas to attend a luxury music festival co-created by Ja Rule...only to find barely-livable conditions, dwindling supplies of food, stolen passports and worse?

That’s what happened at this year’s Fyre Festival, where festivalgoers, who paid up to $12,000 for a ticket, have been documenting their experiences on social media since arriving on the island Thursday.

They’ve described the event as a “complete disaster.”

“There are no villas, just a disaster tent city,” one attendee tweeted.

Other attendees also tweeted about their disappointing experiences, including a woman posting a video to document being locked indoors with no air, food or water, and another sharing a picture of storage lockers for attendees set up on a plot of dirt….without locks.

Organizers of the two-weekend festival promised ticket-holders a “once-in-a-lifetime musical experience” complete with performances by artists including MigosLil YachtyRae SremmurdG.O.O.D. MusicMajor Lazer and Blink-182, the latter of whom cancelled their appearance yesterday.

As of Friday, it appears that festival organizers have put the event on hold and sent planes to the island to transport ticketholders back to Miami.  Fans are also being promised full refunds.

Ja Rule also posted an update via Twitter hours after news of the festival disaster broke, writing, “I will make a statement soon I’m heartbroken at this moment my partners and I wanted this to be an amazing event it was NOT A SCAM as everyone is reporting.”

“I don’t know how everything went to left but I’m working to make it right by making sure everyone is refunded,” he added. “I truly apologize as this is NOT MY FAULT… but I’m taking responsibility.”
