ABC/Eric McCandlessLast month, Boyz II Men member Nathan Morris showed off his washboard stomach on Instagram, along with the diet plan that made his toned abs possible.
But the 46-year-old singer tells People that he had to make some major lifestyle changes in order to lose over 30 pounds.
“It just struck me one day. I’ve tried many times but was never able to keep the weight off until I realized it couldn’t just be a diet. I had to ‘commit or quit,'” he says.
He continues, “On Sept. 26, 2016, I started my workouts weighing 249 lbs. I was able to get my overall weight down to 208 lbs. in fat loss and then was able to add 10 to 12 lbs. of muscle.”
As for his weight loss meal plan, Nathan says he cut out all carbs “except the good ones,” like brown rice and yams. He eats “lots” of green veggies and “good proteins,” along with drinking large amounts of water and taking vitamins.
The entertainer also hits the gym for brief bouts of weight and resistance training in addition to “15 to 20 sprint intervals.”
“I focus not on how much weight or how many reps, but more on good form and slow speed lifting to create more time under tension,” Nathan explains.
“I feel great!” he adds. “Like anyone, there are those days that you just don’t want to get up and do it, but that’s when it really counts. That’s your mind trying to trick you and once you get moving, it all goes away.”
