It's his prerogative: Bobby Brown sues TV One over upcoming “Bobbi Kristina” TV biopic

ABC/ Rick RowellBobby Brown is not pleased with TV One’s forthcoming Bobbi Kristina biopic, and has filed a lawsuit in hopes of stopping the film from ever seeing the light of day.

The TV movie, which takes a look at the life of Bobby’s late daughter Bobbi Kristina, after the death of her late mother and entertainment icon Whitney Houston, premieres on TV One October 8. 

As E! News reports, the R&B singer alleges TV One “knowingly and maliciously used his persona and life in the movie and promotion of the film.”  

He also claims in court documents that the film “contains defamatory and untrue depictions” of him, particularly concerning his relationship with late wife Whitney and Bobbi Kristina.  

In a statement, TV One says it is are “aware of the reported legal challenge by Bobby Brown regarding the film Bobbi Kristina and are taking appropriate steps on behalf of our network to respond.” 

The message continues, “While we are not able to address our legal response at this time, we stand by the film and its representation of this period in Bobbi Kristina’s life.”

Bobby Brown is reportedly seeking $1 million in damages and has yet to respond to TV One’s statement.  

Bobbi Kristina premieres Sunday, October 8 at 7 p.m. ET on TVOne.  

It features singer and Saints and Sinners actress Demetria McKinney as Whitney, Hassan Johnson as Bobby, Vivica A. Fox as Whitney’s sister-in-law Pat Houston, and up-and-coming actress Joy Rovaris as Bobbi Kristina.
