“Beauty and the Beast” director says Beyoncé “would have been a good feather duster” in the live action movie

ABC/Image Group LABeauty and the Beast director Bill Condon tells Yahoo Entertainment that he tried to cast none other than Beyoncé in his live action film, but was unsuccessful, because she thought “it wasn’t a big enough part.”

“She would have been a good feather duster,” he adds.

Bey and Bill worked together on his 2006 movie, “Dreamgirls,” which helped Jennifer Hudson, who starred alongside Beyoncé in the film, win an Oscar for her role as Effie.

Condon also recalls JHud’s dedication to the part, particularly because it was her first time acting in a film, and says she “would stay very much to herself, and she was listening to music all the time to get in the right emotional state.”

Still, when it comes to Beyoncé, Bill believes that the “Formation” artist will take the genre of movie musicals to greater heights.

“You look at something like Lemonade: that is brilliant. That is a brilliant new direction for movie musicals.”
