John Shearer/Getty Images via ABCJohn Legend will create his version of “Heaven” as he’s honored by one of his favorite arts organizations.
The singer has been named the 2018 Visionary by The Art of Elysium charity, which funds arts organizations . For the group’s annual Heaven gala on January 6, 2018 in Los Angeles, the singer will create a special “one night artistic installation.”
“Heaven is love, light and laughter,” says Legend in a statement, according to BroadwayWorld.com. “I want to create an experience that celebrates love and justice, truth and light, and the joy that connects us all.”
In 2007, Legend won a Grammy Award for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance for his single “Heaven” from his second album, Once Again.
“To honor John as a husband, father and artist is incredibly humbling,” says The Art of Elysium founder, Jennifer Howell. “The light and love that John is creating through his vision is needed in our world now, more than ever. John represents the ideals of The Art of Elysium. Using his art as a catalyst for change, John illuminates truth, joy and the love for humanity.”
Stevie Wonder was honored as the organization’s Visionary for the 2017 Heaven gala.
