CeCe Winans says she was “pleasantly surprised” to see backing choir during rehearsal for “CMA Country Christmas” TV special

ABC/Mark LevineFor the very first time, gospel artist CeCe Winans will perform “Joy to the World” with the Born Again Church Choir during the eighth annual CMA Country Christmas television special to air Monday, November 27.

In a backstage interview at the event’s taping at the famed Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, Tennessee, she says that she was actually “pleasantly surprised” that the choir was onstage during rehearsal.

“It’s a choir from Born Again Church, it’s a church I used to attend, and they got them for the track, the pre-recording,” CeCe says.

“And I was pleasantly surprised that they had them on stage at rehearsal. I didn’t know they were gonna be here.”

CeCe says we can expect to witness a great performance featuring “a great arrangement” of “Joy to the World.”

“I had never heard the arrangement before, “Joy to the World,” and when they sent me the arrangement I was like, ‘It’s gonna be amazing.’ It’s upbeat. It’s full of fire and a great message,” CeCe declares.

The “Blessed Assurance” singer also ticks off several country music stars she’s most looking forward to seeing onstage, such as Trisha YearwoodReba McEntire and Lady Antebellum

“All of them are pretty great,” she says.
