ABC/Randy HolmesTinashe‘s sophomore album, Joyride, finally arrives April and she tells ABC Radio that she knows just how much the album means, not only to her, but to her loyal — and very patient — fans.
She says, “People have been waiting for this Joyride. I’ve been like, ‘Here’s this song.’ They’re like, ‘We don’t care. We want the Joyride album.’ I’m like, OK! OK!”
Tinashe adds, “But they’re amazing fans, so… it’s cool to be able to have that kind of support and I guess the pressure [of putting out the album] is just one of the things that comes along with it.”
“But to be honest, I put most of the pressure on myself.”
Regarding the four-year gap between the release of her 2014 debut album, Aquarius, and Joyride, the singer says, “I’m just a huge perfectionist and I always want everything to just be the best it can possibly be, so there’s a lot of pressure, mostly coming from an internal dialogue.”
But when it comes to her personal life, Tinashe says, “everything is going well,” especially with her “very nice” boyfriend, Philadelphia 76ers star Ben Simmons.
She adds, “I feel like all of the pieces of everything are falling into place and my album’s coming out and my relationships are good and everything is just good vibes.”
