Mario Sorrenti for Harper’s BazaarIf the September fashion issue of Harper’s Bazaar had a theme song, it’d be “We Are Family.” Some of music’s top stars have been photographed with their children for a feature called “First Families of Music.”
The issue includes Kanye West posing with his children North and Saint; Lionel Richie with daughter Nicole Richie; Erykah Badu with her daughters Puma and Mars; and Mariah Carey with her twins Moroccan and Monroe. Michael Jackson‘s daughter Paris is also part of the feature.
Harper’s Bazaar also shares the artists’ comments on parenting:
Kanye West on fatherhood: “I hope my children never lose their confidence to society.”
Lionel’s wishes for his children: “I wish for my kids to discover who they are and explore their passions to the fullest.”
Nicole Richie’s similarity to her dad: “My dad and I will do anything for a laugh. If that means we’re the butt of the joke, so be it. In a nutshell, we’re desperate show ponies.”
Erykah’s hopes for her kids: I want my children to use their gifts in order to do service for others. That is, to make sure that their gifts are serving something bigger than themselves. And to do what I say.”
The September issue is on newsstands August 21.
