Report: R. Kelly sued for $200K in damages to homes he rented in Georgia

Randee St. Nicholas/RCA RecordsMore problems for R. Kelly: He’s reportedly being sued for causing over $200,000 in damages to two homes he rented in Georgia.

The “I Admit” singer is the target of a civil suit filed by the SB Property Management company, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The company claims that Kelly rented a 23-room mansion for $10,000 a month, and a four-bedroom home for $3,000 a month in Johns Creek, a suburb of Atlanta.

According to court documents, Kelly moved out of the homes in February 2017. When SB Property Management inspected the house with 23 rooms, it found extensive damage to the electrical system, and several missing items, including a stove, bedroom furniture, ceiling fans, six mirrors  and 22 light fixtures.

The suit also claims that the four-bedroom house had broken windows and trash inside.

Alfonso. L. Walker, a former associate of Kelly, was found to be responsible for the damages and stolen items. He was arrested in December 2017 for theft and burglary.

Kelly agreed to pay $170,000 for the damages, but according to the suit, he only paid $20,000.

As Kelly faces allegations of running a sex cult at a separate property in Atlanta, it was recently announced that he’s bringing his Memory Lane Tour to the Hulu Theater at New York City’s Madison Square Garden.

Following protests over Kelly headlining the concert, the venue defended the booking, telling Variety,“MSG has a long history of not censoring performers. We believe artists have the right to rent our venues to put on their own event, and that the public then has the choice whether or not to support that event.”
