Prior to revealing himself as The Masked Singer‘s Monster on Wednesday, T-Pain returned to surprise fans with a new album titled 1 UP.
T-Pain was crowned the winner of Fox’s The Masked Singer on the season one finale of the show, which features celebrities in full body costumes facing off against each other in a singing competition.
“You guys treated me with just the utmost respect, and that’s really hard to come by in the industry that I’m in,” he told the judges.
“Since I first hit the scene, I’ve been in dire need of a second chance, and I think you guys gave it to me with The Masked Singer.”
T-Pain beat out Bee and Peacock — revealed as Gladys Knight and Donny Osmond, respectively.
As for 1 Up, the 12-track LP includes the previously released songs “Getcha Roll On” featuring Tory Lanez, as well as the O.T. Genasis-assisted track “A Million Times.” 1 UP also features guest spots from Lil Wayne, Russ, Boosie Badazz and Flipp Dinero.
The album serves as a follow up to T-Pain’s 2017 effort Oblivion, and it can be assumed that the new album’s title refers to the Florida lyricist’s growth since then.
The rapper shared the exciting news with fans via Instagram.
“Surprise!!! Thank you guys for being so patient with me,” he captioned a photo of the album cover art.
“It was worth the wait, we got a new album out!!!!! I did this independently and I can’t wait for ya’ll to finally hear it.”
1 UP is now available on streaming services everywhere.
