Steve Harvey dragged online after saying rich people can't afford to sleep

ABC/Quantrell D. ColbertSteve Harvey is once again offering up some expert advice to viewers– but unfortunately, it’s not sitting well with many of his fans.

In a now-viral clip from a recent episode of Steve, Harvey is seen lecturing his studio audience on the subject of “Sleep vs. Wealth,” and promotes the notion that rich people don’t have time to get a full night’s sleep if they want to be successful.

“Rich people don’t sleep eight hours a day,” Harvey say emphatically. “That’s a third of your life. There ain’t but twenty-four hours in a day. You cannot be sleeping eight hours a day.”

The daytime host went on to say that people who live on the West Coast should be waking up earlier than 8 a.m., due to the time difference, adding that by 8 a.m. Pacific Time, “the stock market has been open two hours.”

Harvey then shared a Bible verse to highlight his point.

“The Bible says, ‘He who loves to sleep and the folding of hands, poverty will set upon you like a thief in the night,’” he added.

Social media was quick to critique Harvey’s theory.

“This is the stupidest s*** ever,” wrote one fan. “I worked for a billionaire and his a** SLEPT. My mother hasn’t slept more than 5 hours a night in my life and she’s never had money raising 4 kids on a teacher’s salary.”

Chrissy Teigen, who is estimated to be worth $13 million, also begged to differ.

“This is true I sleep 12,” she said sarcastically.

Another shared an article that billionaire Warren Buffet “never stayed late” or missed out on sleep.

Meanwhile, one fan questioned why people were even listening to Harvey. “Why do people continue to watch and/or support the foolery that comes out of Steve Harvey’s mouth???”
