Bushwick Bill Of The Geto Boys Passes Away At 52

Updated 6/10/19 6:35 a.m. – According to his publicist, Dawn P., Bushwick Bill died on Sunday at the age of 52. She told The Associated Press that the rapper died Sunday at 9:35 p.m., local time, at a Colorado hospital. The publicist says the rapper, whose legal name is Richard Shaw, was surrounded by family when he died.

Representatives of pioneering rapper Bushwick Bill say he is hospitalized in critical condition but still alive, contrary to some reports.. The Jamaica-born performer was widely reported to have passed Sunday after a bandmate wrote a post on Instagram suggesting he had died. However Bill’s publicist told The Associated Press that the rapper is on a ventilator at a Colorado hospital as of Sunday, and that his family is traveling there to be with him.

Pete Marrero, Bill’s Dallas-based business manager, says the 52-year-old was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer in February .Bill, whose legal name is Richard Shaw, had been planning to go on tour around the time he was hospitalized. He’s a founding member of iconic Houston rap group the Geto Boys.
