Lizzo has officially scored her first number one on Billboard‘s Rhythmic Songs chart with “Truth Hurts.”
After spending nine weeks on the tally, the spunky track rises from number five to the summit. This surge in airplay makes the single only the eighth out of 367 number-ones in the chart’s history to achieve such a jump, Billboard reports. It also accounts for the first record to do so since Bruno Mars and Cardi B‘s “Finesse” made the same leap in 2018.
Other tracks that enjoyed similar success include Whitney Houston‘s “I Will Always Love You,” Da Brat‘s “Funkdafied,” Salt-N-Pepa‘s “Whatta Man,” TLC‘s “What About Your Friends,” and Rihanna‘s “Where Have You Been.”
Lizzo celebrated the achievement with fans on Instagram, writing: “PERMISSION TO FREAK OUT !!!!!!!!!!!,” along with a screenshot of her newest achievement.
“Truth Hurt” continues to rise on Billboard‘s other charts, too: it’s #10 on the Pop Songs chart, #8 on the all-genre Radio Songs chart, and climbs from #30 to #25 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay tally.
