ABC/Randy HolmesThe public outcry over Power‘s new theme song rages on, and now Trey Songz has formally addressed the recent backlash.
Friday, the R&B crooner took to Instagram to share that he’s at his wits’ end over criticism of the altered version of “Big Rich Town,” in which fellow singer Joe‘s original vocals were replaced with Songz’s.
“Ima slap the s*** outta one of you n***** bout this Power s***,” Songz captioned a photo of himself smoking a cigar.
Not surprisingly, 50 Cent chimed in on the situation with a response of his own.
“@TreySongz im a be mad at you if you catch a case over a remix now, they just want to make some kinda fun outta of us on this one,” the rapper wrote on Instagram, attempting to diffuse the situation.
Power fans were up in arms after the Starz drama’s season premiere featured the new version of the song. It was so controversial that it began trending on Twitter.
After fans blasted 50 for revamping the theme song, the rapper teased that he might change it back if the complaints continue.
The sixth and final season of Power will run for 15 episodes, and a new series titled Power Book II: Ghost is set to follow in January 2020.
