Atlantic RecordsNo less an institution than Alex Trebek has confirmed that Lizzo has the “Juice”: Last night, the record-setting artist from Detroit became an answer on Jeopardy.
Monday night, the game show host asked the three contestants a question worth $600: ”In 2019, this five-letter rap & R&B artist had the ‘Juice’ to be nominated for Best New Artist at the VMAs.”
Contestant Diana correctly answered, “Who is Lizzo?”
The “Truth Hurts” rapper singer was thrilled, posting the video on Instagram with the comment, B***H B***CH THIS AINT A DRILL IM A @jeopardy QUESTION MAMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA I MADE IT I LOVE YOU ALEX TREBEK.”
Meanwhile, Lizzo’s up for Six Soul Train Awards, and three American Music Awards; she’s also considered a shoo-in for a number of Grammy nominations. The Hustlers star recently wrapped up the North American leg of her Cuz I Love You tour and will begin the European leg November 4 in Paris.
Last week, she tied the record for the most weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 for a rap song by a female artist. It equaled the mark of seven weeks set in 2014 by “Fancy,” by Iggy Azaela featuring Charli XCX.
After brothers Justin and Jeremiah Raisen accused Lizzo of plagiarizing one of their songs for “Truth Hurts,” Lizzo responded with a lawsuit last week saying that they’d “embarked on an escalating campaign of harassment.”
