Merie W. Wallace/HBOInsecure star Jay Ellis will join forces with a familiar face for a new project.
Deadline has learned that Ellis is teaming up with his Top Gun: Maverick co-star Glenn Powell for a yet-titled action-comedy feature.
The film, which is still in development, will follow two young Secret Service agents who must protect the President’s black sheep son. When the boy is abducted, the duo must risk their lives in order to get him back.
Ellis took to Instagram to share the news.
“We’re so in sync we smize the same,” he wrote, sharing a image of Deadline’s announcement that shows him and Powell. “There’s gonna be a lot of long deep smoldering gazes in this film… This is just a preview. Back at it with my boy @glenpowell #netflix #smile.”
As mentioned, the two will soon be seen together in Top Gun: Maverick, due out in June 2020, the forthcoming sequel to the 1986 action drama, Top Gun.
This is the latest project for Ellis, who is currently filming season 4 of HBO’s Insecure.
