Universal PicturesIssa Rae and Lakeith Stanfield find love in each others arms in the first trailer for the romantic drama, The Photograph.
In the promo, the Rae’s character Mae is left with a safety deposit box after her estranged mother unexpectedly dies. In the box lies a mysterious photograph of her mother with an unknown man, which prompts Mae to learn more about her mother’s early life.
In her search, Mae encounters Stanfield’s character, Michael Block, a rising journalist who also has questions about Mae’s mother. Together, they search for answers which eventually leads to their unexpected romance.
“I wonder if it’s too early in the night to kiss you?” says Lakeith in the trailer.
After they kiss, Rae responds, “It wasn’t too early.”
Chante Adams, Y’lan Noel, Chelsea Peretti, Lil Rel Howery, Teyonah Parris, Courtney B. Vance, Kelvin Harrison Jr. and Jasmine Cephas Jones also star in the film, which is being produced by Will Packer and co-executive produced by Rae and director Stella Meghie., whose credits include episodes of ABC’s grown-ish and HBO’s Insecure.
The Photograph hits theaters February 14, 2020.
