Axelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagicCardi B is making sure her fans stay in the know by inviting former presidential candidate Senator Bernie Sanders to update fans about the COVID-19 pandemic on Instagram Live Wednesday.
The pandemic hits close to Cardi, who revealed in the interview that someone close to her is battling the virus and is “in a very bad state.” Because of that, she urged fans to take the pandemic seriously.
The two also focused on President Donald Trump‘s response to the outbreak, simply referring to him as “Number 45.”
“One thing that baffles [me] about Number 45 is that when this coronavirus news was hitting and everything, he just kept blaming that this was a move of the Democrats to make him look bad,” Marveled Cardi.
Senator Sanders agreed and used that sentiment to focus on the president’s recent decision to withhold funding to the World Health Organization.
“He blames other people. Right now he’s blaming the World Heath Organization,” The senator remarked. “What we’re trying to do now in Congress is go around Trump, make sure that our doctors and nurses have the equipment that they need, that we produce the kind of testing kits that we need so anybody in America can get the kind of tests they need, when they need it.”
The “I Like It” rapper made sure to touch upon the upcoming elections and encouraged fans to take voting seriously, saying that while she’s upset Sanders is no longer running, she’s putting her support behind the presumptive nominee Joe Biden.
Cardi also mentioned that the former vice president might not “rock” with younger voters because he’s “conservative,” to which Sanders assured that he’s making sure Biden comes to embrace more progressive ideas, like minimum wage and immigration reform.
“He’s moving in the right direction,” Promised Sanders.
