“The Rematch: Monday 8 pm EST/ 5 pm PST,” Babyface, who was born Kenneth Edmonds, shared in an Instagram post on Sunday.
Although the event was dubbed a rematch, it’s actually more of a do-over for the two Grammy Award-winners. On Saturday, fans eagerly tuned in to the “Verzuz” battle between the two, only to bear witness to some dreaded technical difficulties on Riley’s end, resulting in them taking a 30-minute break.
Upon returning, Riley was still plagued with issues and, after an hour, they decided to call it quits.
One hilarious thing to come out of this momentary tragedy were the memes and some social media users who decided that even when things go wrong, there’s always a bright side.
“Listen, Babyface, Teddy Riley, Tyrese and Tamar are trending in a horrible year of 2020 in the middle of a pandemic, bringing laughter to our souls by accident. Maybe we needed this instead of the live music,” @KendraAnn4 wrote.
