Bobby Brown's lawsuit against TV One's “Bobbi Kristina” biopic is headed to court

ABC/Rick RowellIt looks like Bobby Brown‘s lawsuit to stop TVOne’s broadcast of its forthcoming Bobbi Kristina biopic is headed to court.

Page Six reports that all parties — which includes both Brown and and late daughter Bobbi Kristina‘s estate — “have been ordered to appear in court later this month to argue their case.”

A hearing’s scheduled for September 29, after which the judge will decide whether to grant a temporary order to halt the release of Bobbi Kristina, set to premiere on TV One October 8.

As previously reported, Bobby’s lawsuit, filed in early September, alleges that TV One “knowingly and maliciously used his persona and life in the movie and promotion of the film” and that it “contains defamatory and untrue depictions” of him, particularly concerning his relationship with his daughter and his late wife, Whitney Houston.

Bobby Brown and Bobbi Kristina’s estate are reportedly seeking more than $2 million in damages.

TV One responded to Brown’s claims, saying it stands by the film’s representation of Bobbi Kristina’s life after Whitney’s death.

Bobbi Kristina features singer and Saints and Sinners actress Demetria McKinney as Whitney, Hassan Johnson as Bobby, Vivica A. Fox as Whitney’s sister-in-law, Pat Houston, and up-and-coming actress Joy Rovaris as Bobbi Kristina.
