Alicia Keys salutes Khalid for “Time” magazine's 100 Most Influential People list; he'll perform at “Time 100” gala

Grace PickeringKhalid isn’t just a chart-topping Grammy nominated musician: He’s among the 100 most influential people in the world.

That’s according to Time magazine, which has put together its annual list of the biggest influencers across a number of categories, including Pioneers, Artists, Leaders, Titans and Icons.

Khalid appears in the Artists category, along with the likes of Ariana Grande, South Korean boy band BTS, reggaeton star Ozuna, actors Mahershala Ali and Regina King and dream hampton, who executive-produced the Surviving R. Kelly documentary.

Two other musicians on the list, Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga, are included in the Icons category.

Alicia Keys has penned a tribute to Khalid, writing, “Khalid is totally unique. He’s a beautiful writer with the ability to take human concepts and make you understand and feel them. He has a full, powerful voice that is somehow unassuming and smooth at the same time.”

Alicia continues, “He’s accessible — almost like you’ve met somebody like him before, although there’s nobody else like him. He has his own style, and I think we’re all hungry for individuality right now.”

She adds, “He has a beautiful journey ahead of him, and I hope he accomplishes things he can’t even imagine yet.

Khalid and Taylor Swift will perform at the 2019 Time 100 Gala, taking place April 23.
