Wilford Harewood/FOXLee Daniels is on a mission. After FOX canceled his musical drama Star earlier this month after its third season, the director-producer says he’s “fighting” to find his show a new home.
In an Instagram post Wednesday, Daniels shared a clip from the series and a major message to fans.
“Fighting guys! Will know this week… or top of next!,” he wrote. “I’m NOT letting them STOP the CULTURE… SORRY!!.”
According to Deadline, Star, which now belongs to Disney’s 20th Century Fox, has already been shopped to multiple outlets, including BET and OWN. Now, Deadline reports another, unspecified network is in the mix, making Daniels hopeful for a possible pickup.
Star, which premiered in 2016, was a spinoff from Daniels’ other hip-hop musical drama, Empire. It followed Jude Demorest, Ryan Destiny and Brittany O’Grady as three young singers hoping to make it big in Atlanta.
