Photo by: Rosalind O’Connor/NBCLeslie Jones apparently won’t be around for her Coming 2 America co-star Eddie Murphy‘s return to Saturday Night Live on December 21.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jones is departing the cast of SNL after five seasons. The funnywoman first joined the NBC sketch comedy series in 2014 as a writer. She later became a staple both in sketches and as part of Weekend Update segments with Colin Jost and Michael Che. She’s also earned multiple Emmy nominations during her tenure.
Although she has yet to confirm the news, Jones will have plenty to work on if she is leaving the show. The actress-comedian will be gearing up for her own 2020 Netflix comedy special, which she will tape in Washington D.C. on September 10, and a role in that highly anticipated Coming to America sequel with Murphy.
SNL returns on September 28.
