Image Courtesy Peter Kramer/NBCOrganizers have announced the nightly lineup for this year’s Essence Music festival, taking place this summer at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans.
Comedian Kevin Hart will headline the festival’s opening “Now Playing” concert with Trey Songz and Lecrea on Thursday, July 2.
The following day concertgoers will be treated to R&B acts like Charlie Wilson, India.Arie, and Kem, while Saturday evening will feature Usher, first-timer Missy Elliott, Erykah Badu and Common. On the final day, Kendrick Lamar, Mary J. Blige, and the reunited Floetry will close out the festivities.

Here’s the official line-up of performers:
Thursday, July 2 — Kevin Hart, Trey Songz and Lecrae will kick off main stage performances.
Friday, July — Charlie Wilson, India.Arie, Kem, plus a soon-to-be announced return of New Orleans’ finest on the main stage while Adrian Marcel, Avery*Sunshine, Doug E. Fresh, Goapele, Kelly Price, Kindred the Family Soul, Luenell, Nico & Vinz and Slick Rick will perform at the event’s intimate Superlounges.
Saturday, July 4 — Usher, Missy Elliott, Erykah Badu, Common, Beenie Man & The Zagga Zow Band are scheduled as well as separate Superlounge shows from Bilal, Elle Varner, Esperanza Spalding Presents: Emily’s D+Evolution, Kool Moe Dee, Mali Music, Mystikal, Raheem DeVaughn, Sevyn Streeter, Tank and The Bangas and Tonya Boyd-Cannon.
Sunday, July 5 — Kendrick Lamar, Mary J. Blige, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, Floetry will close the festival followed by Superlounge shows from Andra Day, Dee-1, Dumpstaphunk, Eric Roberson, Jeff Bradshaw, Lianne La Havas, Mase, Robert Glasper, SZA, Teedra Moses and Tweet.
