(NEW YORK) — Erica Campbell is out on her national tour, but the gospel singer and mother of three will still make time to celebrate Mother’s Day on Sunday. Erica, whose husband Warryn is not only her producer but the new pastor of California Worship Center in Los Angeles, tells ABC Radio she’ll be on the pulpit on her special day.

“This Mother’s Day my husband asked me to preach the sermon on that day,” she says. “That is very huge! I think he’s slightly off so I’m praying that God will show him that he needs to do it because he’s the pastor.”

“I’m just the first lady. I’m just supposed to sit pretty [and] sing sometimes,” she quips.

If she had it her way, Erica says, “I would be with my mom and my kids and just be loved by my family. It feels really good to be loved and I know that I am.”

Regardless, Erica says she’ll make time to honor her mother, Thomasina “Honey” Atkins, on Mother’s Day because she deserves it.

“That woman brings tears to my eyes,” she says, tearing up. “Being the woman that I am now makes me reflect on all that she did, and all that she gave, and all that she was and is — not just to me and my family — but to so many people, all that she sacrificed. She did not have a nanny or a housekeeper or money, but she had nine kids and we still managed to have fun.”

After Mother’s Day, Erica will have a little break before she hops back on her Erica Campbell & Friends: The Help 2.0 Tour. She’s next slated to perform at Faithful Central Church in Los Angeles on June 5.
