Actor John Marshall Jones shares the prayer that keeps him “calm” and “centered” during the COVID-19 pandemic

Roy Rochlin/WireImageAs The Morning Show star John Marshall Jones gears up for the release of his newest series, Paradise Lost, on Spectrum Originals, the actor says he’s currently working on staying “calm” and “centered” during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I know that we all are going through a lot of anxiety right now,” Jones tells ABC Audio. “[But] what I’ve learned is that worrying or anxiety is like paying interest to the bank on a loan that you haven’t taken out yet.”

Jones, best known for playing loving father Floyd Henderson on the hit 90’s sitcom Smart Guy, says that even though fans may know him as the level-headed dad of a genius, it’s not always easy in real life to maintain his cool with so much going on in world.

“I do something that helps me to stay calm and stay centered and takes care of my spiritual life as well as everything else,” Jones explains, before revealing that that “something” is a special prayer.

“‘The light of God surrounds me. The love of God enfolds me,” he says with eyes closed. “The power of God for protects me. The presence of God watches over me. Wherever I am, God is and all is well.”

The Morning Show is now available on Apple TV+. Jones’ new show Paradise Lost launches on Spectrum on April 13.
