Rihanna Reportedly Heads Back to Studio to Create Hit Single

ABC/Lou RoccoRihanna fans may be wondering what’s the status of her upcoming album, tentatively titled #R8, but it looks like the singer has reportedly returned to the recording studio because she’s struggling to produce a radio hit, a source tells the New York Post‘s Page Six.

“The singles haven’t caught on. She’ll be fine because she’s Rihanna — but it’s not a good thing that the songs haven’t stuck,” the insider reveals, seemingly referring to her lukewarm singles “FourFiveSeconds,” featuring Kanye West and Paul McCartney, “American Oxygen,” and “B***h Better Have My Money.”

While the unnamed source adds that Rih’s eighth project was initially due out late spring, another insider offers up a different explanation as to why she hastily released her singles.  “She released them because she felt really passionate about [them] and felt an urgency to get them out to her fans,” said the source. “This isn’t going to be another ‘Diamonds’ . . . She’s never not in the studio. It’s not her going back in. She never stopped.”

Rihanna just scored her 23rd number-one single this month with “BBHMM,” which tops Billboard‘s Dance Club Songs chart.
