As expected, Jill Scott has earned her second #1 album on the Billboard 200 chart with her latest release, Woman.
The album topped the chart selling 62,000 equivalent album units in its opening week, according to the publication. Jill’s previous album, 2011’s The Light of the Sun, was her first #1 and opened with 135,000 sold in its first week.
In addition, Jill has become the first solo female artist to have a #1 album on the Billboard 200 in nearly five months — pop singer Kelly Clarkson was the last to do so back in March.
The album, which features her longtime collaborator Andre Harris and songwriter/producer Aaron Pearce, includes the singles “You Don’t Know” and “Fool’s Gold,” which has become her 13th top-10 Adult R&B hit.
Elsewhere on the chart, last week’s chart-topper Future slips to #2 with his latest album, DS2, which sold 52,000 units in its second week.
