Prince Bought “Purple Rain” Home Months Before His Death

NPG Records/Chelsea Lauren“What’s the matter with this house?” It appears that Prince found nothing wrong with the house used during the filming of Purple Rain — the late music legend bought it eight months before his death.

The Minneapolis Star Tribune writes that the singer purchased the two-story, three-bedroom home for $117.000. “I don’t think he had a plan. I think he just wanted it,” says Coldwell Banker Burnet agentDeborah Larson to the Tribune.

Larson says she received a phone call last July from an unnamed woman in California regarding the property. Once the paperwork was complete, Larson noticed the name “NPG Music Publishing” listed on the forms, which is Prince’s publishing company. Prince, however, never lived in the house.

The Minneapolis home, located on 3420 Selling Avenue, is now a part of Prince’s estate. It joins the singer-songwriter’s Paisley Park Studio and other properties in Prince’s home state of Minnesota.
