Jeff Kravitz/FilmMagicIf all the horrible things that have happened in the world over the past year have got you humming the 2003 Black Eyed Peas song “Where Is the Love?” well, it’s coming back…tonight.
According to WheresTheLove.com, a new website, the song is coming tonight at 9 p.m. ET. In addition to this information, the page features information about donating to a number of charitable causes, such as a foundation for the victims of the PULSE nightclub shooting, a foundation for refugees and a number of foundations set up for the victims of police violence, such as Trayvon Martin, Michael Brown and Philando Castile.
Black Eyed Peas frontman will.i.am tweeted, “Let’s spread love like the world is depending on it… Because the world needs it right about now…” and listed all the artists who are participating. The lineup includes Usher, Tori Kelly, Diddy, Mary J. Blige, Jamie Foxx, Andra Day, The Game, A$AP Rocky, Ty Dolla $ign, DJ Khaled, Jessie J and the man who guested on the original: Justin Timberlake.
Will spoke to ATTN about the single, which is raising money for education. “It’s important that we pay attention to what’s going on in society, and it’s very important that we pay attention to what’s not happening in communities. In particular, lack of education — a lack of investing in a child’s education,” he said.
He adds, “I know how powerful music is. I know what it can do — both from a heart level, from a social level, but also, financially. So that’s the reason why this version of ‘Where’s the Love?’ isn’t about making money. It’s about making change. It’s about bringing opportunities to folks that need it.”
