Former Boyz II Men Member Michael McCary Feels “Betrayed” By Ex-Group Members

Albert L. Ortega/Getty ImagesThirteen years ago, former Boyz II Men member Michael McCary exited the group due to his battle with multiple sclerosis, but now he claims that the decision to leave wasn’t his.

In a new interview with Iyanla Vanzant for her show, Iyanla: Fix My Life, the singer explains that his departure from the group was decided by his fellow bandmates, leaving him feeling abandoned by the group to this very day.

“If I had to sum up what I got from my brothers in Boyz II Men, I would have to say betrayal. A broken bond. At this point, we don’t even talk,” he says in a clip of the first installment of a three-part Fix my Life TV special.

Despite McCary’s claims of being pushed out of the group, Boyz II Men tenor singer Wanya Morris told Oprah in a September episode of her show Oprah: Where Are They Now? that McCary simply stopped coming to work, due to his health issues.  That, Wayna said, led to the group’s split.
