Image Courtesy Def JamJhene Aiko, Jeremih and Ashanti are among the many performers confirmed for Def Jam’s 30th anniversary concert, taking place at Brooklyn’s Barclay Center later tonight, October 16.
The star-studded event will feature performances from the label’s biggest stars including Rick Ross, 2 Chainz, DMX, Fabolous, Foxy Brown, Onyx, Method Man, Redman, Ja Rule, Warren G and EPMD.
“I’m very excited to be a part of such a special announcement — Def Jam Recordings 30th Anniversary Concert at the iconic Barclays Center — which solidifies and continues the enduring mark the brand has made on pop culture,” said Steve Bartels, CEO of Def Jam Recordings in a statement. “As the birthplace of hip-hop, there is no better place to celebrate such a cultural touchstone than in New York City itself.”
Def Jam was co-founded by Rick Rubin and Russell Simmons in Rubin’s college dorm room at New York University, and came to feature a roster that included LL Cool J, Public Enemy, Jay Z and Kanye West, among others.
